Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, dear interested persons and supporters,

Until recently you have found our petition on this website. We, the rejected Tibetan asylum seekers in Switzerland, wanted to draw attention to our difficult situation and to call for a solution by the means of the petition.
Now we have decided not to pursue the petition any further. This has, on the one hand, to do with the lower than expected participation. On the other hand, since the start of the petition in June 2016, some developments have taken place which have prompted us to pursue our concerns in a different way.

As a matter of principle, today we are no further than a year ago: our difficult situation remains unresolved. We have no residency status, can be arrested at any time by the police and are not allowed to work. This has resulted in about a hundred Tibetans fleeing to France in their despair, where they called attention to their hopeless situation in Switzerland and applied for asylum. This has already been granted to some, the others are waiting for their decision.

At the present time, we are about 270 rejected Tibetan asylum seekers living in Switzerland and living by the emergency aid. The “return” required by SEM (State Secretariat for Migration in Berne) to India and Nepal is not possible. All attempts to contact the relevant embassies are rejected.

In August 2017 a meeting of some representatives of the SEM with the representatives of the Tibetan community in Switzerland took place in Zurich Binz. The opposing points of view were exchanged. Under News / SEM-Meeting you can see more info.
We continue to fight for our cause and hope for a solution in the near future.

We sincerely thank those who took part in our petition for supporting our concerns and ask you to stay involved with our cause. Please visit our website from time to time to learn about the latest developments.
